Just a few thoughts on working with non-technical users of DotNetNuke. Probably the biggest challenge is getting the clients to fully understand how to edit a page and use the editor. Second to that is adding modules to a page and pages themselves. If you are working with an office manager or a marketing person they are usually attracted to the ability to make edits themselves - it's just like using Word! The reality is it's more complex than just using Word. A few tips for any of you just getting started with DNN out there:
1. Read the tutorials on this web site - found here - http://www.dnnwow.com/Tutorials/tabid/151/language/en-US/Default.aspx
2. Ask your vendor for a "sand box" you can play in - a set of pages or a sub-portal or a test site to work with
3. Make sure you try out these tasks:
* Add a new text/html module to the site
* Place some new text in your text/html module including images and files
* Save the content
* Edit the module title
4. Other things to consider:
* Ensure you are comfortable using the file manager and loading documents into the system
* Make sure your site webmaster has enabled the site log so you can view your basic site traffic statistics
* If you are using third party modules - make sure that you are aware of what they are and how they work
* Also make sure for the skin installed on the site you are aware of options on container styles, optional layouts, etc.
